Redesigning the layout of the text from Chapter 10 by Edwin A. Abbott’s 1884 book “Flatland, a romance of many dimensions”. For this FMP, I decided to make an A3 book which was challenging in itself. I wanted to push myself for this brief and loved the final outcome. I realised that Flatland is quite a heavy read, and most wouldn't understand, especially children in school trying to wrap their heads around it. Using shapes and letterpress numbers, the aim was to make it more interesting to read and using a risograph it gave that added textured to match the genre of the book.
I designed all the shapes, then printed through the risograph. All titles/numbers were created using a letterpress and the body copy is Baskerville.
